Parents and Guardians:
We
are busy preparing our final pieces for the upcoming concert season. The following letter contains important
information for you to make a note of for the next couple of weeks.
ROTARY CAROL:
We will be performing at the Rotary
Carol Festival on THURSDAY DECEMBER 5TH at 7:05 P.M..
I would ask that all students arrive at Knox Metropolitan Church
(corner of Victoria Ave. and Lorne Street) no later than 6:30 p.m. Please come in
through the front doors on Lorne St. and go downstairs to the assembly hall in
the basement. Parents are welcome to
stay and watch other choirs in the church.
Your child will be free to leave immediately following our performance at 7:05 p.m. You will be responsible for your child’s
transportation.
PARKING:
Remember to obey the signs in parking lots around the church and in
particular please note that the lot just North of the church is not open to the
public at all. Cars have been ticketed
in this lot in previous years.
CONCERT DRESS:
We ask that all students wear concert dress for all upcoming
performances; black pants or black skirt, black shoes, and a white long sleeve
shirt. NO BRIGHT RUNNERS PLEASE.
CHRISTMAS CONCERTS:
The choir will be singing as part of Jack MacKenzie’s program on DECEMBER 17TH. Performance times will be at 1:15 and 7:00
p.m.
SONG LYRICS and REHEARSALS:
We are attaching the lyrics for the two pieces we will be singing at
the events. Please be sure that your
child has memorized ALL the words. They should return their binder when they
have memorized the words.
CAROLING and CHOIR WIND UP
It has become somewhat of a tradition for the choir to do some caroling
in the neighbourhood. We are planning on
doing this on Sunday – DECEMBER 15th (weather
permitting). Students would meet at Jack
MacKenzie School. Details regarding
times and pizza orders will be sent out in a couple of weeks.
ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES and
TOUR!!!!!
We are very excited to add a tour to our list of activities this
season. On DECEMBER 18TH students will be doing a little tour to College
Park Retirement home, Southland Mall and Wintergreene Retirement Estates to do
some caroling. Transportation costs will
be covered by the Jack MacKenzie trust fund.
We are really looking forward to this opportunity to share the love of
singing within our community. Students
are asked to bring a bag lunch or
money for their lunch as we will be stopping at the Kiosk in the Southland mall
over the lunch hour during the tour. HELP!!!!!!! I will need at least two
parent drivers to help transport some of the choir for this tour. If I do not
get help, several students will have to stay behindL
PLEASE, IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP, CONTACT ME VIA E-MAIL A.S.A.P. THANK YOU.
THANK YOU:
Finally a quick note to say thank you for allowing your child to be a
part of this choral group. It has been a
lot of fun and a wonderful way for us to connect with our larger school
community. Encourage your child to keep
singing and we will see you next year.
Yours in music…
Mme Cross Mrs.
Hinz
